Make It Visible

How to get what you bring in front of the people who decide

The practical half. Five moves that take the record you already wrote and turn it into something a manager, a board or an interviewer can actually act on.

For people who have already written My Contributions and Instincts. If you have not, start there. Everything here operates on the material you produced in it.

What this picks up

Work Changed. Human Value Didn’t. Brief, Workbook and AI Lexi Coach is about recognition. Getting what you bring out of your head and onto a page, in a form specific enough to survive a question.

It stops there, deliberately. It does not teach you how to say it, when to raise it, or how to hold it when somebody disagrees or has already decided. Those are different problems and they are harder than the first one.

This is where they get solved. It is tactical, it is meant to be used this month rather than read, and it assumes you have your record already.

Before you start

This assumes you want to be more visible right now

That is not always true and it is not always wise. If a restructure is already underway and the decisions are made, if your manager treats ambition as a threat, or if you are leaving anyway, the smart play may be to build the file and say nothing yet.

The evidence is worth having either way. What you do with it, and when, is your call and nobody else’s. That caveat is on the first page of the toolkit as well as this one.

The five moves, in order

Translate, rewrite, build, say it, and put it on a clock. Each one uses what the one before it produced.

  1. Translate it into workplace languageTake your strongest entry and three questions, and get to one sentence: what people trust you to do when the stakes are real and the answer is not obvious. Five worked archetypes to test yours against.
  2. Rewrite your updates around judgmentStop reporting what you did and report what you decided and why. A grid for your last four real updates, and what an empty row tells you about which parts of your role are pure execution.
  3. Build your one-page caseFour strongest entries, compressed to one line each, outcome first. A record is complete and private. A case is selective and written to be read by someone with four minutes and a decision to make.
  4. The conversationA sixty to ninety second script for your next one-to-one, built from your own evidence. Plus what to write down beforehand for when they say the metrics are already set, when they hear it as you asking for something, and when they agree and nothing happens.
  5. The thirty-day cycleFour checkpoints, a week apart. Deliberately uncomfortable, and honest about which parts of it you do not get to schedule.

What you get

  • The toolkit

    Five moves, fillable or printable

Every prompt, grid, script and checklist across the five moves. PDF to print, Word to type into.

  • AI Lexi Coach

Who this is for, and who it is not for

This is for you if you have written My Contributions and Instincts, you can see what you bring, and the thing standing between you and being recognized for it is that nobody else can see any of it yet.

This is not for you if you have not done that work. The five moves will produce something plausible and generic from a blank start, and plausible is exactly what fails in a room.

What this does not promise

This gives you a process for communicating the value you already create. It does not guarantee a raise, a promotion, a title change, continued employment, or protection from a layoff or reorganization. What happens next depends on your role, your industry, your manager, and decisions made by your company that are outside anyone’s control, including mine.

You decide what to document, what to say, and who to say it to. This is not legal, financial, or career advice for your specific situation.
